Erick Arguedas Cavero Head Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Eric grew up in what he accurately describes as the “biodiversity capital” of Peru. Raised alongside his four brothers and two sisters on a farm fifteen minutes downriver from Puerto Maldonado, Eric began his working years in the farming, fishing, goldmining, Brazil-nut harvesting and hunting industries of the region. In 1999 he enrolled at the Instituto Superior Tecnologico Jorge Basadre and after studying for three years, graduated as an official tour guide to the Madre de Dios area. Eric then began work as guide on a freelance basis to visitors from all over the world, using his extensive knowledge to introduce them to the wonderful array of plants and animals the Tambopata area is home to. Eric joined Inkaterra at Reserva Amazonica in February 2005 and was soon promoted to the role of assistant to the Interpreters leader. He is passionate about his job and hopes to one day own an ecotourism operation in the Madre de Dios region. |

Efrain Flores Quiroz Assistant Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica See Profile From Puerto Maldonado, Efraín graduated as an official tourism guide from the Instituto Jorge Basadre Grohman in 2002. While studying he worked as a freelance guide at many of the regions lodges including Wasai, Corto Maltes, Sandoval Lake lodge and Inkaterras Reserva Amazonica (then Cusco Amazonica). Since 2004 Efrain has been guiding at Reserva Amazonica permanently, taking a particular interest in snakes and working on a fieldguide to the medicinal plants of the area. |

César Alfredo Vásquez Sedano Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile César Alfredo, born in Lima, studied Hotel and Tourism for five years, finally graduating in 2006. Following his love for travel and nature, it was pretty easy to make the choice of moving from citylife to the middle of the rainforest. He began his work at Inkaterra in 2006 as a guest service recepcionist. During his spear time César Alfredo managed to learn about the rainforest flora and fauna and worked his way on to being an interpreter by 2007. He is very proud of his achievements and enjoys forming part of the Inkaterra interpreters team. He feels really lucky to be in touch with nature every day and loves doing lots of physical activity while taking guests into the rainforest. César Alfredo is a great fan of sports and outdoor adventures, in particular canoe rides and fishing. Due to this interest he is currently in charge of a project to raise cuica worms as bate for the fishing excursions. |

Yuri Torres Rivera Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Yuri Angel Torres Rivera was born and brought up in Puerto Maldonado. After leaving school Yuri studied Guiding through the Jorge Basadre Ghoman Institute while working in the local timber, mining and farming industries. Starting in the storekeeping and bar departments at Reserva Amazonica, Yuri then took the opportunity to realize his ambition to be an Interpreter to visitors to the rainforest. He is presently an active member of Reserva Amazonicas Interpreter team and is currently studying the Macaws of the area. |

Moises Sanchez Perez Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Moisés has been part of the rainforest life since birth. Having been born in Puerto Maldonado in 1980 he has been in contact with nature since childhood. Before working in the tourism industry, Moisés has worked with lumber, Brazilian nut collecting, gold mining and in farms. During those years he learned to appreciate value and respect the Amazon Rainforest. This is why he began to study the career of “Official Tourism Guide” at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico in Puerto Maldonado, were he obtained more information and knowledge regarding animals, vegetations, and history. Now a day he is a current interpreter at Reserva Amazonica lodge. He is in charge of a clay lick project and has a preference for the Amazon mammals; especially sloths. |

Jose Vargas Gonzales Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile José Vargas was born and raised in Puerto Maldonado. He comes from a big family; 3 sisters and 9 brothers. He is one of the most experienced interpreters around, and this is why he has been working at Inkaterra for little over than 15 years. Before that he worked with timber, as a gold miner, a boat driver, a brazilian nut collector and as a fisherman. José also lived 4 years in Europe being the reason why he speaks fluent french and italian. Due to all of this knowledge, José is a very valuable interpreter in our team. He is now developing a circuit through a palm swamp, or wetland, area near the hotel; good place to see fauna, that will enrich the amazon experience. |

Percy Ccopa Pacaya Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Percy was born in Puerto Maldonado, known as the Biodiversity Capital of Peru. Percy is interested in nature and the learning of new species since childhood. He began working as a biologists' assistant in a beetle project, inside the ACCA conservation area. His father taught him how to work in the brazilian-nut harvesting and lumber industries of the region. During these years, he took on his fathers' knowledge and the techniques of survival in the rainforest. In 2000, he began studies to become an oficial tourism guide and, after graduation introduced himself to the wonderful world of the rainforest. In July 2006, Percy joined the interpreter’s group of Reserva Amazonica Hotel. He is an excellent guide with experience in different lodges. Nowadays, Percy enjoys his job and due to his passion for birds he is carrying out a birdwatching project in the area. |

Wilson Escalante Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Wilson was born in Cusco but raised in Puerto Maldonado city. Since a child he has been in contact with nature. Before working in tourism Wilson has worked in the lumber industry, Brazilian nut collection, gold mining and farming. During those years he learned to appreciate value and respect the Amazon rainforest. Uriel Gonzalo Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Uriel Gonzalo was born and raised in Puerto Maldonado in a place called Tres Islas, 20km away from the city. He is the second of six brothers so he has lived in the rainforest for many years working in farming activities and gold mining. Uriel studied to be a Tourism Guide at the I. S.T.P “Jorge Basadre Grohman” for 3 years. He soon began to work as a guide at a lodge for approximately 3 years. Afterwards he applied for work at Reserva Amazónica and has been working for us since 2008. Uriel has an interest in fishing, big cats, and snakes. |

Iván Manuyama Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Ivan was born in Puerto Maldonado the Capital of Biodiversity in Peru. Ivan is one of 8 brothers and sisters, and has traveled a lot with his father along the rivers, to camp, fish and discover the rainforest. In 1999 he began to study to be a tour guide at the "Instituto Superior Tecnologico - Jorge Basadre". After completing his studies Ivan started to work as a free-lance guide at many different lodges in 2002. This was a decisive factor in accumulating more experience and knowledge about the rainforest. Ivan joined Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica in February 2008. Since joining Inkaterra Ivan has developed an interest in caimans and is working on a project related to them. |

Jesús Cieza Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Jesús was born in Puerto Maldonado city, one of the unique areas in the World with a huge diversity of flora and fauna. He is one of four brothers and sisters and comes from a local miner family. Jesús finished high school in 1999. Then continued his studies at a Technical Institute where it took him five years to become a tourism guide. It took him five years because two of them he spent it working to finish it. Jesús has worked in mining, logging and other local activities. He has worked as a tourism guide since 2006 in others lodges and for a short period as free-lance guide. Jesus has been with Inkaterra since 2008 and is developing his passion for birds. |

Carlos Peña Interpreter at Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica See Profile Carlos Peña was born in Lima. His parents are from Chiclayo Department so he is used to traveling. Carlos knows all 24 Peruvian Departments and has visited many countries in South America. He is licensed in tourism from the San Ignacio de Loyola University and was an Ecotourism teacher for the UNAMAD University in Madre de Dios. Carlos has specialized in the rainforest and its native communities since living in Puerto Maldonado city for over 6 years. Carlos worked in Inkaterra in 2006, left to raise a family and came back in 2008. He is now working on a project related to tourism and developing his passion for photography. |
