Guide to Tambopata

The Tambopata National Reserve, located in the southern Peruvian Amazon Basin, is one of the last easily accessible virgin tropical rainforests in the world. The area contains enormous biodiversity and beautiful natural landscapes, spread over a vast 274,690 hectares (678,766 acres).

Considered by Conservation International to be a Global Mega Diversity Hot Spot, the region has remained intact due to limited road access and to the protection offered by several major National Parks, including Manu, Candamo, Tambopata, Amarakaeri, and Bahuaja Sonene Reserves, with more than 3.6 million protected hectares (9 million acres).
