
FAUNA
Among the fauna observed are invertebrates such as the species Caligo butterflies, which feed on wild fruits, reproduce in rainy seasons; carambolilla and ciruelo de monte, located at the beginning of the trail. You can also see bees, ronsapas (large bees) and beetles, which utilize the aguaje for its reproduction.

Toads are found in these wetlands, but the color of their skin makes it difficult to see them as they are camouflaged with the color of the ground or leaves, such as the two-toned Elachistochleis. Another frog Leptodactylus bolivianus are also found. The Bufo sp. located on shore and sometimes in the water is the most common amphibians in this ecosystem. |

Among the common reptiles seen is the Gonatodes lizard, which feeds on small insects, attracted by the flowers or secretions of the lagunas, plants found in the aguajales. Usually these lizards use the elevated forest to lay their eggs and the aguajales ecosystem as feeding ground due to the large quantity of insects they can capture. The Epicrates cenchria snake, which is of the forest land but can be seen near the Aguajal. The Liophis reginae snake can be seen frequently in this ecosystem of vegetation where the heliconias are and feeds on rodents. The Pseutes sulfureus snake as seen in the photograph, feeds on amphibians as well as the Leptodactylus bolivianus and often they are found in the vegetation near the water. There may also be reptile like dwarf caiman, a jargon viper and some species of turtles. |

One of the most frequent mammals is the Pichico Saguinus fuscicolis monkey, which is a small primate that feeds on fruits of the trees on land and flooded forests, and its presence and sightings continue because during rainy season there are a lot of fruits. They are the main disseminators of seeds. Another primate that can be seen from the bridge is the Fraile o Huasita Camiri boliviensis monkey. It has the ability to move through the trees close to the aguajales swamps and usually stay on the same tree. It feeds on young leaves, tree saps and insects. Also heard in the area are the sounds of large primates like the howler monkey. |

Among the most sighted birds is the Ara chloloptera macaw, which feeds on aguaje fruit as it starts to ripen, the seed being soft and easy to eat. They utilize this type of tropical forest habitat and build their nests in holes of the aguajales trunks. |
Other birds which also build its nest in aguajales but use other tree species are the pointed tail palm creeper and the woodpecker looking for food in barks of old trees.
