Newsletter June 2017

President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos invited Inkaterra founder and chairman José Koechlin to present an integrated tourism plan at the 4th CEO Summit of the Pacific Alliance on June 29 in Cali, Colombia – within the XII Pacific Alliance Summit attended by the heads of state of Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. Mr. Koechlin proposed a bird-based tourism strategy for sustainable development, promoting the declaration of local reserves for endemic species conservation, as well as a safe migratory route across the aforementioned countries.

Inkaterra’s pioneering ecotourism model acknowledges the economic value of biodiversity, as conservation is profitable to local communities. The company’s ongoing projects include a sustainable landscape corridor in the Amazon rainforest of Madre de Dios, as to mitigate the effects of illegal mining through ecotourism.
