INKATERRA WISHES YOU A HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Inkaterra wishes a Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

In challenging times, hope and kindness will always prevail. Let’s be grateful for the joy of being together with our families, and for the beauty of nature that surrounds us.

Our Thanksgiving card expresses the joy of spreading wings once again and exploring the world’s vast diversity of cultures and landscapes. It features the blue dacnis (Dacnis cayana), portrayed by Inkaterra Asociación’s lead ornithologist Noé Huaraca, the first Peruvian scientific illustrator trained by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This turquoise-feathered passerine bird is from the tanager family. It is identified by its delicate black mask and its pointed beak and is found in the Amazon rainforest of Madre de Dios.

We invite you and your loved ones to explore Inkaterra’s eGift Cards, which can be personalized with custom messages and a choice of design.

INKATERRA FOUNDER JOSÉ KOECHLIN APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF PERU’S NATIONAL CHAMBER OF TOURISM

Inkaterra founder and CEO José Koechlin was elected Chairman of Peru’s National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) for the 2022-2024 period. The new committee is represented by Maritza Montero (First Vice President), Pablo García (Second Vice President), Alberto Alegría (Executive Director), Javier Zavala (Executive Treasurer), and directors Liliana Picasso, Gabriela Fiorini and Lati Naimi.

José Koechlin established Inkaterra in 1975, pioneering ecotourism and sustainable development in Peru. Acknowledged by the United Nations as the First Climate Positive Hotel Brand in the World, Inkaterra celebrates Peru’s heritage through its holistic approach – the brand produces scientific research as a basis for biodiversity conservation and the wellbeing of local communities.

Winner of the 2015 PURE Award for Contribution to Experiential Travel and named as one of the “100 Most Powerful People in Global Hospitality 2022,” by the International Hospitality Institute, José Koechlin is also an emeritus board member of Conservation International (Washington, D.C.).

“Our industry is still struggling due to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and today’s uncertain geopolitical background,” José Koechlin declared. “At CANATUR we will deploy all our efforts to regain the tourism sector as one of our country’s greatest income generators and sources of local employment, by encouraging world-class infrastructure and services, as well as sustainability policies towards a carbon-free future and the preservation of Peru’s greatest asset: its cultural and natural diversity”.

INKATERRA WINS THE BIOSPHERE AWARD AT THE 2022 ECOLUXURY FAIR IN ROME

During the 2022 Ecoluxury Fair, alliance members from the Ecoluxury Collection were recognized for their successes in implementing and promoting projects related to cultural heritage, local socio-economic development, green solutions and conservation.

Liza Masias, Marketing director at Inkaterra, attended the Ecoluxury Fair where Inkaterra received an award for their achievements in the ‘Biosphere’ category – a celebration of the brand’s efforts to preserve one our planet’s most biodiverse areas.

Inkaterra Asociación and the Smithsonian Institution lead an initiative for the creation of a 78,756Ha conservation corridor in the Tambopata National Reserve – from the Lower Madre de Dios River to the Peru-Bolivia border. This groundbreaking strategy aims to mitigate the threats of illegal gold mining and logging in the Amazon rainforest, through an area devoted to reforestation, ecotourism and other sustainable activities with a positive impact over biodiversity and regional economy.

Inkaterra Asociación’s Madre de Dios Sustainable Landscape Corridor will act as a hub for green business and investments, playing a catalyzing role in the area. The Corridor will enhance a sustainable future for Madre de Dios. These agents of change lead to reduced poverty; carbon sequestration capacity; resilient natural habitats; efficient use of water and other natural resources; and capacity building in ecotourism and other cultural initiatives. According to the pioneer of conservation biology, Dr. Thomas Lovejoy, the future of the Amazon rainforest depends on Madre de Dios as it represents 40% of its genesis.

Celebrated November 10-12 at Rome’s Palazzo Taverna (once home of the Borgias and the Bonaparte family), the fifth edition of the Ecoluxury Fair was organized by Viaggi Dell’Elefante, the most prestigious high-end Italian tour operator. The Ecoluxury Fair features over 200 exhibitors and 250 buyers devoted to the luxury market. The event offers industry insiders from around the globe a chance to discuss tourism, and sustainability and share success stories with one another.
