ADIDAS JOINS INKATERRA ASOCIACIÓN
AND GREEN INITIATIVE IN MADRE DE DIOS RAINFOREST RESTORATION PROJECT

In commitment to sustainability, Adidas joins Inkaterra Asociación and Green Initiative in the Madre de Dios Rainforest in the fight against the climate crisis. The athletic apparel and footwear corporation donated one thousand trees from 19 different species sowed across one hectare of Selva Alegre, within the Inkaterra Ecological Reserve.

“In size, it is the equivalent of one national stadium,” stated Adidas Latin America Director Business Development, Mayte Velaochaga. “The initiative will capture over 3,000 tons of CO2 in a 15-year period, contributing to offset carbon from the atmosphere.”

“Madre de Dios is one of our planet’s greatest hotspots, as it hosts as much as 4% of all the biodiversity in the world,” says Inkaterra Asociación project coordinator Noé Huaraca. “However, it is also one of the most threatened environments. Our alliance with Adidas will help restoring genetic connectivity in the Amazon rainforest of Madre de Dios, conserving flora and fauna native to a unique ecosystem.”
